The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) hosted the eighth meeting of the Women’s Health Products Working Group (WHPWG) on 30 October 2024. The WHPWG is comprised of representatives from consumer groups, health professionals, industry, academia, and senior officials from the Department of Health and Aged Care.
The following topics were presented:
- Asherman’s Syndrome and related Women's Health Products with a focus on causes, symptoms and difficulties when diagnosing the syndrome.
- Ongoing shortages of Menopausal Hormone Therapy including the impact these shortages have on Australian women and the process and plans in place to help alleviate some of these impacts.
- Australian Framework for National Clinical Quality Registries review update with advice on how medical registries are used, their purpose, scope and the importance of review outcomes being disseminated to stakeholders.
- Gender-Responsive Health E-Learning courses that are now available to the public and health carer professionals to provide a deeper understanding of the differences in providing effective gender health.
- Consultation outcomes for the proposed regulation of Exempt Medical Devices and Other Therapeutic Goods with advice on proposed changes and further information and feedback gathered during the consultation process.
The next WHPWG meeting is tentatively scheduled to be held on 27 March 2025.
