Committees and advisory bodies
Our statutory advisory committees, working groups and industry consultation groups help support what we do. Advisory bodies and committees provide us with independent, expert advice on the regulation of therapeutic goods, including medicines, medical devices, biologicals and chemicals.
Advisory committees and working groups
Advisory committees and working groups support us by providing independent expert advice on the regulation of medicines, medical devices, biologicals and chemicals. Examples include the Advisory Committee on Medicines, Advisory Committee on Medical Devices and Advisory Committee on Vaccines. These groups are made up of specialists in science, medicine, industry and consumer health representatives.
Collaboration with these groups provides us with different perspectives from across all areas. The groups only provide recommendations and any final decisions relating to the regulation of therapeutic goods are made by us. Collaboration is vital for informed, transparent, evidence-based regulation. We manage these committees under strict governance to ensure integrity and confidentiality.
Please note that this page is not an exhaustive list of advisory committees and working groups. If you are unable to find the committee you are looking for, please reach out to commmittees@health.gov.au.
