About disinfectants and sterilants
Disinfectants and sterilants are products that kill or remove harmful microbes on surfaces and medical instruments. Examples are hospital-grade disinfectants and sterilising solutions.
They are regulated as medical devices or other therapeutic goods (OTG), with requirements varying based on their intended use and claims. OTGs making specific claims must be included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) before supply.
You must ensure they meet safety, quality, and performance standards.
