We conduct an annual stakeholder survey to improve the way we work with our stakeholders and help report on our key performance indicators.
The aim of the survey is to obtain actionable data to help drive our improvement agenda. The report includes data and feedback from the general public (consumers), people and organisations with a TGA business services account (opt-in stakeholders), and state and territory government representatives.
Key survey findings
The 2025 survey results were positive overall with awareness of the TGA remaining high, with around 2 out of 3 of respondents (65%) indicating they had heard of the TGA before participating in the survey. This is a slight increase from last year (64%) but a decrease from 2022 when awareness of the TGA was at a peak of 69%.
The TGA continues to be trusted with almost two-thirds of respondents believing the TGA gets the balance right between access to therapeutic goods and safety (64%). This represents an increase of 4% in agreement among consumers from last year.
Approximately 73% of stakeholders agreed that prescription medicines and medical devices are appropriately regulated. When asked about medicines, 74% of consumers and opt-in stakeholders agreed that they are appropriately regulated. When asked about medical devices, 73% of consumers and opt-in stakeholders agreed that medical devices are appropriately regulated. These results are slightly higher than last year’s.
Almost 59% of opt-in stakeholders said they had noticed improvement in TGA services, with the most common being ‘timeliness or quality of responses to enquiries’, ‘new and updated regulatory information and guidance’ and the ‘TGA website’. During the last 12 months, the TGA’s Digital Transformation program has made significant progress to improve the digital tools and systems that enable our stakeholders to engage with us.
Communicating with the TGA remains a positive experience for the majority of stakeholders (70%), with responses to most enquiries taking 5 days or less. This represents a slight improvement on last year’s results.
