On 19 August 2026, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) hosted a Special Roundtable Discussion between the Hon Rebecca White MP, Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, Assistant Minister for Indigenous Health and Assistant Minister for Women, and the Women's Health Products Working Group (WHPWG).
The WHPWG comprises representatives from consumer groups, medical peak bodies, clinicians, industry, academia and senior officials from the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.
Updates included the Women's Cardiovascular Health Expert Panel and the Senate Select Committee on Women's Health, which is due to report by 18 August 2027.
Members discussed key women's health priorities, including gender bias and inequity in healthcare, culturally safe information, health literacy and misinformation, access to and affordability of women's health products, particularly copper IUDs. Members also discussed pregnancy and postpartum care, access to critical medicines, climate-related impacts on health products, and the importance of continued Australian Government support for registries to strengthen evidence and data.
The next WHPWG meeting is scheduled for 15 October 2026.
