Medifab is conducting a product correction for the KayserBetten Safe Surround Genie Bed. The hand control will be replaced with an auto-locking model to prevent unintended bed movement. This bed is designed for children and adults who need extra protection because they can move into unsafe positions during the night.

What is the problem?
The original hand control does not lock automatically after use. If it is not locked with the key while the user is unattended, someone could mistakenly use the hand control and accidentally move the bed.
What are the risks?
This could trap a person and cause serious injury or death. Two deaths have been reported overseas. No incidents have been reported in Australia to date.
What should I do?
If you have this bed contact Medifab at 1300 543 343 to arrange an appointment to replace the hand control.
Until the new Auto-Lock hand control is fitted, whenever the user is unattended, follow these interim safety measures:
- Move the sleeping platform to a level position and its lowest height.
- Lock all hand control functions using the key.
- Close the bed doors.
Please ensure that family members, caregivers, healthcare staff, and anyone else who may operate the bed understand the interim safety measures.
