Accreditation for sunscreen testing laboratories: What sponsors need to know

Background

Reliable sunscreen testing is essential for supporting product claims and maintaining confidence in test results. However, many sponsors may be unfamiliar with laboratory accreditation, what it demonstrates, and how it differs from other quality frameworks.

In this joint webinar presented by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA), participants will gain an overview of the role of accreditation in demonstrating laboratory competence and supporting confidence in testing outcomes. The webinar will explain the purpose of ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, how it differs from frameworks such as ISO 9001 certification and OECD Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), and how these systems may complement one another.

The session will also explore the practical application of accreditation to sunscreen testing, including the relationship between accreditation, test methods, laboratory competence and the reliability of reported results. NATA will outline what is involved in obtaining and maintaining accreditation and address common questions and misconceptions about accredited testing.

This webinar is intended for sunscreen sponsors, manufacturers and testing laboratories seeking a clearer understanding of accreditation and how it can support confidence in sunscreen testing and quality assurance.
