About this survey

The number of people using software and artificial intelligence (AI) to diagnose, manage and treat mental health conditions is growing.

Our AI Review Report published earlier this year found that the regulation of certain low-risk Digital Mental Health Tools (DMHTs) may no longer be appropriate, and urgent review is required.

DMHTs include apps, websites or computer programs that are used to understand, manage or treat mental health concerns. 

We are now seeking information about what DMHTs are currently available for use in Australia to support a broader review of how DMHTs are regulated.

The following survey is for people who use DMHTs and anyone who refers or recommends DMHTs to others including clinicians, health professionals, and organisations or service providers in the health sector.

Our goal is to understand how DMHTs are being accessed and used by Australians, including:

• what kind of tools are being used and how people access them
• how people decide if a tool is safe and effective
• what information helps people choose the right tool
• how these tools have changed interactions between patients and their health providers
• any concerns people have about the safety or effectiveness of DMHTs
• how people expect these tools to be regulated in Australia.

Your responses will help guide advice to the Australian Government about the future regulation of DMHTs.
