Breast implant associated cancer is a rare cancer of the immune system. It is often known as Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL).
It is not breast cancer, which forms from cells in the breast. It is cancer of the body's disease-fighting lymphatic system. Around breast implants, it usually grows in the fluid and scar tissue.
In less common cases, BIA-ALCL looks like a lump in the breast or armpit.
