Therapeutic Goods (Goods that are not Therapeutic Devices) Order No. 1 of 1992

I, MARGARET ATKINSON, a delegate of the Secretary to the Department of Health, Housing and Community Services, make the following Order for the purposes of the definition of "therapeutic devices" in subsection 3 (1) of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.

Citation
- This Order may be cited as the Therapeutic Goods (Goods that are not Therapeutic Devices) Order 1 of 1992.
Commencement
- This Order commences on the day this it is published in the Gazette.
Therapeutic goods that are not therapeutic devices
- For the purposes of the definition of "therapeutic devices" in subsection 3 (1) of the Therapeutic Devices Act 1989, the following therapeutic goods are declared not to be therapeutic devices:
- saline, sterile water or purified water for therapeutic use, other than saline and water for use solely for inflation or storage of therapeutic devices;
- blood, blood substitutes, blood expanders, and blood components other than blood components that are coated on therapeutic devices;
- therapeutic goods of the following kinds:
- laxatives;
- enema solutions;
- douche fluids;
- irrigation fluids;
- diagnostic goods, including imaging agents, for in vivo use;
- disinfectants and antiseptics that are not;
- impregnated in a therapeutic device, or;
- intended for use for cleaning or storing contact lenses;
- medical gases;
- chemical oxygen generators;
- haemodialysis solutions, peritoneal dialysis solutions and substances prepacked for use in dialysis;
- ingested demulcents and absorbents;
- homoeopathic preparations with no direct chemical action;
- sunscreen preparations;
- transdermal patches;
- formulated emollient or moisturising preparations intended for use in extemporaneous dispensing;
- intrauterine contraceptive goods containing hormones;
- sponge, membrane or similar goods, other than condoms, for delivery of spermicide or viricide.
Revocation
- Therapeutic Goods (Goods that are Not Therapeutic Devices) Order No. 1 of 1991 dated 15 February 1991 is revoked.1
