Prior to 1 July 2018, tampons and menstrual cups have been required to be listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) in order to be able to be legally supplied. Following the recent regulatory amendments, these products became exempt goods, and therefore you are no longer required to have an ARTG entry for these products.
How tampons are regulated in Australia Tampons are therapeutic goods that are exempt from the need to be entered on the ARTG, but they are still required to comply with the relevant Standard before they can be supplied in Australia.
The Department of Health and Aged Care acknowledges First Nations peoples as the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia, and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures, and to all Elders both past and present.
