This page provides information on the proposed changes to nicotine scheduling, what it would mean for consumers, medical practitioners and pharmacists if the interim decision is made final and how to have your say on the proposed changes.

On 23 September 2020 an interim decision was announced which would make certain nicotine products a prescription only medicine. Public submissions on the proposed changes are invited before any final decision is made. The closing date for submissions is 6 November 2020.

Three information sessions were held on Thursday 8 October (2 sessions) and Friday 9 October (1 session) for consumers, health practitioners and suppliers to explain the proposed changes to the way nicotine is supplied.
