Note:

  • Topic 2 incorrectly displays that Section 42DL of the Act is an offence that prohibits advertising “pharmacy-only medicines not listed in Appendix H of the Poisons Standard”. This should be “pharmacist-only medicines not listed in Appendix H of the Poisons Standard”.
  • The correct answers in question 1 of topic 4 are A, B and D. Option A is currently not showing as a correct answer, however it relates to a medicine advertising to appear in ‘specified media’ – such advertisements require pre-approval under the Regulations.

We are working to update the module to reflect the correct information.

This online training resource provides an introduction to the regulation of therapeutic goods advertising.

A robust and effective system of advertising controls for therapeutic goods creates a level playing field for business and enhances health outcomes for all Australians. In Australia the advertising of therapeutic goods is regulated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).

This module will allow advertisers to gain a better understanding of Australia's therapeutic goods regulatory framework, their obligations under this framework, and the role of the TGA. The module also provides links to resources that may assist advertisers in meeting the requirements of a compliant advertisement.
