Celecoxib (Celebrex) not withdrawn from Australian market
Media statement
9 December 2004
Australia's drugs regulator, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), is aware that a media statement issued by the Complementary Healthcare Council of Australia on 8 December 2004 states that the Therapeutic Goods Administration has required the withdrawal from the Australian market of celecoxib ("Celebrex").
The fact that the Therapeutic Goods Administration is reviewing information about the safety of all the currently registered Cox-2 inhibitor drugs is mentioned in the December 2004 issue of the Australian Adverse Drug Reactions Bulletin <http://www.tga.gov.au/adr/aadrb/aadr0412.htm>. That review in no sense constitutes a withdrawal of any of these products from the Australian market.
