1 May 2003
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) today issued its final list of products to be recalled following the suspension of the licence of PAN Pharmaceuticals Limited of Sydney.
A further 701 products were identified today for recall. This brings the total number of products identified for recall to 1369.
If any other affected products come to light after review of records in cooperation with Pan Pharmaceuticals, they may be subject to cancellation and mandatory recall action.
The list of the new products for recall will be published in metropolitan newspapers tomorrow morning. The full list of all products is available on the TGA website at www.tga.gov.au.
A consolidated list of products that have been recalled will also be published in Australian regional newspapers.
Yesterday the TGA identified 449 products for recall and published lists in metropolitan newspapers. On Tuesday the TGA also published a list of 219 Pan products that were recalled once the licence suspension was invoked.
Today's is the final TGA list of products from the Pan facility that will be recalled.
On Monday, the TGA suspended the licence held by Pan Pharmaceuticals Limited to manufacture medicines after TGA inspectors found a series of serious quality breaches by the company.
The TGA established a large call centre to handle the vast number of enquiries from the general public since the suspension of Pan. The call centre, which was staffed by 160 phone operators, had received more than 320,000 calls in its first two days of operation.
The TGA website, which on an average day receives around 500 hits, is currently receiving more than 70,000 hits a day.
