17 October 2012
About the ARTG
The publicly accessible version of the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) is the reference database of the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). It provides information on therapeutic goods that can be supplied in Australia.
Please note: the ARTG is a record of the contents and classification details of therapeutic goods. It is not intended to provide guidance, advice or recommendations on those goods.
If a therapeutic good is not entered on the ARTG, it cannot be supplied in Australia. There are special circumstances where individuals can access unapproved therapeutic goods. For more information see: Access to unapproved products.
The ARTG is hosted on TGA eBusiness Services (eBS); an online portal that provides separate functions for consumers, health professionals and industry. A number of other searches can be conducted via the eBS portal, including:
- ingredients
- proprietary ingredients
- consumer medicine information
- products information
- Australian manufacturers
- code tables.
Using the ARTG search function
You can search the ARTG for both medicines and medical devices.
Enter your search term into the field provided. You can search using:
- the product name
- licence details
- sponsor details
- active ingredient names
- the ARTG identifier number.
Please refer to the ARTG search page for detailed information about search options and conducting more complex searches.
Search results can be printed or exported either as HTML, Excel or XML.
