New Parliamentary Secretary
TGA welcomes Senator Grant Tambling as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Health and Aged Care and with particular responsibility for TGA.
Married, with a son and a daughter in their twenties, Senator Tambling was raised and educated in the Northern Territory and has a background in business.
Senator Tambling has represented the Northern Territory as a Senator since 1987 and prior to that as the Federal Member for the Northern Territory and Member of the Legislative Assembly, with Northern Territory Cabinet responsibilities for Finance, Primary Production, Housing, Local Government and Community Development.
After holding various shadow ministries, in 1996 Senator Tambling was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport & Regional Development and from October 1996 as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Social Security.
Senator Tambling's new portfolio responsibilities include TGA, the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and the Australia-New Zealand Food Authority.
Almost immediately after the announcement of his appointment as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Health and Aged Care, Senator Tambling started work on his new portfolio responsibilities - arranging briefings and meeting most managers within the first few days of his arrival.
We all look forward to an exciting, constructive and fruitful period with Senator Tambling as Parliamentary Secretary.
