The Pharmaceutical Chemistry Evaluation (PCE) Section reviews the chemistry, quality control and bioavailability data submitted by pharmaceutical companies in support of applications for registration of new medicines and variations to registered medicines.

This position offers diverse and interesting work in a supportive and friendly environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Within a Stream(s) or Unit within PCE, coordinate the evaluation of chemistry, quality control and bioavailability data supplied by pharmaceutical companies in support of submissions to the Department.
  • Supervise and mentor other evaluators of chemistry, quality control and bioavailability data, including review of reports prepared by both internal evaluators and external consultants.
  • Provide expert advice to the Australian Drug Evaluation Committee and its subcommittees.
  • Represent the Department in internal and external symposia.
  • Provide management support and undertake special projects as required.

  • Equipment calibrations
  • General laboratory benchwork and/or laboratory support functions
  • Testing products using various laboratory equipment and software packages
  • Analysing the results of tests and preparing associated reports
